What is Moriachem Kutam?
Moriachem Kutam translates to "Mother Mary's Family", is the community organization formed to plan and organise the festival each year. It handles ticket sales, donations, coordinate logistics, and purchases.
What is Monthi Fest?
Monthi Fest, is a cherished celebration of the Nativity of Mother Mary and Thanksgiving of the harvest among Konkani Catholic communities. The festival begins with offering the season's first harvest and flowers to Mary in thanksgiving, followed by Mass, a procession, and community celebration with food, music, and cultural performances. Our community in Central Texas carries this heritage forward, bringing our community together in faith and joy.
What is Novem Jehvonn?
Novem Jehvonn means "new meal" in Konkani — it's the traditional feast prepared from the season's first harvest, blessed as part of the Monthi Fest celebration. Families and the community come together to share this meal as an act of thanksgiving for the harvest and God's blessings, making it one of the most cherished parts of the celebration.
What should I bring for the event?
Traditionally, children and adults are welcome to shower flowers/flower petals on the baby Mother Mary Statue (Bambino).If you or your children would like to participate, please bring flowers from your garden.Each person is recommended to have atleast 3 handfuls of flowers/flower petals.
What kind of food is served?
The feast is a traditional vegetarian Novem Jehvonn menu prepared in odd numbers — traditionally considered auspicious for celebratory occasions. Traditional dishes you can expect are Alun Dento, Gosalay Thel Piyao, Thendli Channa Sukha etc.
Who can attend?
Everyone is welcome to attend — Monthi Fest is open to the entire community, families, and friends of all backgrounds.
How do I purchase tickets?
Click "Purchase Tickets" in the Event Highlights section, fill in your name, email, and number of adult/child tickets, then pay via Zelle or Venmo using the QR code shown. You'll get a confirmation once your submission is received.
What payment methods are accepted?
The preferred payment method is Venmo. If you do not have Venmo, we also accept Zelle. After submitting the form, you'll be shown a QR code to scan and complete payment — please include your name in the memo so we can match your payment to your order.
Is my ticket refundable?
All ticket sales are final and non-refundable but can be transferred if you cannot attend. Please make sure to email moriachemkutam@gmail.com with the name of the person you have transfered to so we have a record of the transfer
Do I need a ticket to attend Mass?
No — Mass is open to everyone and does not require a ticket. Tickets are only for the reception.
What time should I arrive?
Mass begins at 10:30 AM, followed by the procession and flower offering at 11:45 AM.
